The 2nd most popular vehicle imported to the USA, the Saracen is perfect for an armored steet legal APC for law enforcement and security work. The first prototype was made by 1950. Production started at Alvis Ltd in Coventry in 1952 and continued for 20 years. The FV432 replace the Saracen in the service. The turret holds a Browning machine gun fired by the commander who sits right behind the driver on a raised seat. Access to the hull is by two large rear doors. There are four firing ports on each side of the hull for the infantry to fire their weapons under cover. The B80 Rolls Royce is gasoline. No NBC equipment is fitted. The Saracen is one of the most comfortable APC's ever built, with a very good cross country performance. Street legal. Has power assisted steering. Two main variants available. the Mark 2 which is single armored and the Mark 6 which is double armored with reverse flow cooling for the radiator. Another variation of the Mark 6 is that the two front drivers hatches at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions are sealed shut.
Another main difference is that the Mk6 has a big comfortable drivers seat.
