The Shorland was manufactured by Short Brothers of Ireland, UK. The Shorland is Land Rover based. The vehicle has an upgraded suspension to deal with the extra weight of the armor. Used for internal security work, the armor can withstand handgun and 7.62 rifle rounds. Unlike the Ferret, Saracen and Saladin, the Shorland like the Humber Pig has a standard transmission and clutch like a regular car in the USA, therefore no learning experience is needed to drive it. Driver sits right as standard in England. The turret takes a Browning machine gun and the gunner sits in a cradle that rotates. You could if in a pinch put up to 7 men into the vehicle. Run flat tires are standard. About 10 variants were made of the Shorland with many upgrades such as improved engines.
